Licensed Electrician Serving Lakewood Ranch, Florida
Lakewood Ranch is the fastest-growing community in the country, and all those new homes need an electrician who does things right. Donny McGuire works with LWR homeowners on everything from pool cage lighting to EV charger installs and smart home wiring.
Newer Homes Still Need a Good Electrician
People sometimes assume that because Lakewood Ranch homes are newer, they do not need electrical work. That is not the case. Builders wire homes to meet minimum code, and minimum code does not account for how you actually live. Donny gets calls from LWR homeowners all the time because the builder only put one outlet on a wall that now has a home office setup, or the garage was not wired for anything heavier than a light bulb even though the homeowner just bought an electric vehicle.
The homes in Country Club East, for example, are beautiful -- big open floor plans, large lanais, resort-style pool areas. But a lot of them were built with a basic 200-amp panel that is already close to capacity once you factor in the pool pump, the air handler, the water heater, and the kitchen. Add an EV charger or a hot tub and you are looking at a panel upgrade or at minimum a load calculation to figure out what you can actually support.
Pool Cage Lighting Is Where LWR Really Shines
Lakewood Ranch has some of the nicest pool cages in the state. Big screened enclosures with outdoor kitchens, fire features, and resort-style landscaping -- but at night, most of them go dark. That is a waste. Donny's pool cage lighting installations are one of the most popular services he offers in LWR, and for good reason. These homeowners have invested serious money in their outdoor living spaces, and the right lighting makes them usable after sunset.
In the Waterside and Del Webb communities, Donny has installed color-changing LED systems that let homeowners set the mood from their phone. Want a warm amber glow for a dinner party? Done. Want to light up the pool cage in your team's colors on game day? That works too. The LED strips mount along the cage beams and are completely invisible during the day. At night, they transform the space.
Smart Home Wiring for Modern Living
Lakewood Ranch attracts homeowners who want their houses to work smarter, and that starts with proper wiring. Donny runs dedicated circuits for home automation hubs, installs hard-wired smart switches and dimmers, and sets up structured wiring panels so your network, security cameras, and smart devices all have clean, dedicated connections instead of fighting over WiFi.
He also gets a lot of requests for outdoor lighting in the LWR villages. The landscaping in these communities is serious, and the right landscape lighting turns a well-maintained yard into something that looks incredible from the street. Low-voltage LED path lights, uplighting on palms and oaks, and accent lighting on architectural features -- Donny designs and installs all of it.
EV Charger Installation Is Taking Off in LWR
Between the Tesla owners in Country Club East and the new EV buyers in Lorraine Lakes, Donny is installing Level 2 EV chargers in LWR garages almost every week now. A Level 2 charger needs a dedicated 240-volt circuit, usually 50 amps, run from the main panel to the garage. In some LWR homes the panel is in the garage already, which makes it straightforward. In others, the panel is on the opposite side of the house, which means a longer run. Either way, Donny handles the whole thing -- load calculation, panel assessment, circuit installation, charger mounting, and the permit through Manatee County.

Licensed, Permitted, Inspected
Donny is a Florida State Certified Electrical Contractor. Every job he does in Lakewood Ranch gets permitted and inspected, whether it is through Manatee County or Sarasota County depending on which side of the line your village falls on. That matters for insurance, for resale, and for safety. A lot of homeowners in LWR have had handymen or unlicensed guys do electrical work and then found out about it during a home inspection when they went to sell. Do it right the first time.
